Meeting at Radonie

Published: 06.06.2023

We recently attended a meeting at the meticulously maintained, beautiful 18th-century manor in Radonie. On Saturday, June 3, a group of members and sympathizers of Domus Polonorum were accompanied by friends from the Polish Landowners’ Association (Polskie Towarzystwo Ziemiańskie). We listened to the lecture of our hosts about the history of this landmark, which has changed owners as many as 22 times over two centuries. It’s hard to imagine, however, that it has ever before been in the possession of individuals so committed to its preservation and exemplary maintenance of both the building and the manor park. A story typical for Polish manors – over 20 years ago, the building and park were purchased in a tragic state, and a painstaking, costly reconstruction began.

Today, Radonie is a captivating place, situated in an enchanting park with a pond, serving as a hub for the local community and also occasionally open for visitors who can sample excellent family-baked goods during the so-called „Coffee Shop Under the Columns” („Kawiarenka pod Kolumnami”) day. Admiring the extraordinary determination and impressive work of the owners, we extend our heartfelt thanks for the hospitality.
