On Saturday, May 10th, 2025, members and friends of the Domus Polonorum Association had the honor of gathering at the manor house in Tułowice — a fine example of authentic Polish residential architecture. The hosts of the event were Mrs. Aleksandra and Mr. Andrzej Novàk-Zempliński.
The Tułowice manor, built in 1800 to a design by Hilary Szpilowski, captivates with its classical harmony. The front façade, adorned with four Tuscan columns and the Dołęga coat of arms of the Lasocki family in the tympanum, highlights its noble character. The estate is surrounded by a historic six-hectare park. During our walk, we paused by a monument dedicated to Polish soldiers fallen in the Battle of the Bzura in September 1939. Several thousand soldiers of the Polish Army lost their lives in this area during the fierce fighting. The monument, set on a small hill in the park, prompted reflection on history, remembrance, and the security of our homeland.
Our host, Mr. Andrzej Novàk-Zempliński — co-founder of the Domus Polonorum Association and its current Honorary President — guided us through the estate. He also presented an impressive collection of historic horse-drawn vehicles, meticulously restored over the years. As President of the Polish Carriage Society, he shared his passion, expertise, and many engaging anecdotes — inspiring participants with his love for this vanishing branch of craftsmanship and cultural heritage. Modern cars, it was said half-jokingly, don’t even come close to these masterpieces of old-world engineering and applied arts.
Following the formal part of the visit, we gathered for a warm meal served buffet-style. It was a time for conversation and sharing of experiences.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who attended, and to our gracious hosts — for their unmatched hospitality, inspiring stories, and dedication to preserving the finest aspects of Polish culture.
