Korzkiew Castle, a member site of the Domus Polonorum Association, has been featured in the latest issue of the heritage quarterly Spotkania z Zabytkami (No. 2/2025). The article, written by Łukasz Gazur, explores the history of this castle located just outside Kraków – tracing its transformation from a medieval knight’s tower into the stately residence we know today.
Readers will learn, among other things:
– which Polish monarch once visited the castle,
– how the Battle of Grunwald shaped its history,
– and where a significant part of the castle’s antique furnishings originated.
The castle’s current form is the result of many years of work by Jerzy Donimirski – a long-standing member of Domus Polonorum – whose dedication and sense of historical continuity brought Korzkiew back to life. His restoration combines respect for the site’s medieval origins with careful attention to architectural detail.
Today, Korzkiew Castle is not run as a typical hotel. Instead, it serves as an exclusive venue available for private rental by larger groups, offering a distinctive setting for meetings and events.
The publication was prepared in collaboration with the Domus Polonorum Association, reflecting our ongoing commitment to preserving and promoting Poland’s architectural and historical heritage.
