The ‘Owners Circle Congress 2024’ organised by European Historic Houses and the Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane took place on 19-22 September. A delegation from the Board of Domus Polonorum took part in the meeting.
The event took place in the town of Ascoli Piceno, known as the town of travertine, which belongs to the Marche region of Italy. The theme of the congress was Heritage as a driver for regional revitalisation. The conference was divided into 2 sessions. The first dealt with how heritage sites drive the economy, while the second dealt with how heritage sites bring the local community together. Speakers included historic house owners from Italy, the UK, France and Ireland. The meeting was an opportunity for owners of heritage buildings from all over Europe to share their experiences in the tourism industry.
An interesting topic discussed during the congress was also the fortuitous events that can destroy monuments. Earthquakes occurring in Italy are a major challenge. Conference participants had the opportunity to visit historic houses affected by an earthquake a few years ago in the Marche region. Remedial measures were also presented.
We would like to thank the European Historic Houses and the Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane for the excellent organisation of the event !
